We offer the latest advancements in treatment to give couples the best possible reproductive outcomes for pregnancy and bringing home a baby.
In Singapore, certain genetic screening tests are not approved by the Ministry of Health and therefore are not offered through Monash IVF Singapore. Please read on to find out more.
Genetic testing in fertility examines DNA to reveal alterations in chromosomes and chromosome conditions which may arise during conception or may be related to a genetic condition carried by one of the patients. Genetic testing also helps our fertility specialists to identify the most appropriate assisted reproductive techniques for patients.
Knowing whether genetic testing is right for you and specific to your fertility plan is decided between you and your fertility specialist. Wherever you may be in the fertility journey, we make genetic testing counselling part of your IVF consultation with the Monash IVF fertility team and an optional service for couples to consider.
Together with you and our specialists, we’ll provide you options and the appropriate course of treatment accessible to you and relative to your individual circumstances.
NIPT Non-Invasive Prenatal Test
The Non-Invasive Prenatal test (NIPT –NIP’ TEE) is an optional blood test that can be given as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy to screen for developing genetic abnormalities. The test screens for the most common chromosomal conditions that can affect your baby’s health. It gives parents-to-be a choice to obtain important information about the health of their developing baby in the first trimester, with no risk to their pregnancy. Test results are usually reported back to your doctor within 14 business days.

Fertility Knowledge
Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) is a type of genetic screening performed on embryos prior to implantation in the uterus for in-vitro fertilization (IVF). You may have also heard it referred to as its former name, PGS -Preimplantation Genetic Screening. The PGT-A test is a common add-on test during IVF treatment to determine whether an embryo should be implanted based on its chromosomal number. The purpose of this test is to select embryos with the highest chance of implantation and live birth to maximize your chances of having a child with each cycle of IVF.
